Indian Army to participate in multilateral exercise ZAPAD - 2021 in Russia

A contingent of 200 soldiers of the Indian Army will take part in a Multinational Exercise ZAPAD - 2021 to be held in Nizhny, Russia from 3 to 16 September 2021. ZAPAD- 2021 is one of the theater-level functioning of the Russian Armed Forces and will mainly focus on functioning against terrorists.

More than 12 countries of the Eurasian and South Asian region will take part in this exercise. The Naga Battalion take part in the exercise will have an All Arms Combined Task Force. The aim of the exercise is to further improve the military and strategic ties between the participating countries, with the participating countries planning and executing the exercise.

The Indian contingent has been placed after an exhaustive training program covering all aspects of conventional functioning including Mechanized, Aerial, and Heliborne, Counter-Terrorism, Combat Conditioning, and Firing.
