On 1 Sept. 2021, IPS Sanjay Arora (1988 batch) of Tamil Nadu cadre took over as the Director-General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Sanjay Arora is also known as "Teen Sheb Sahab".
Sanjay Arora is one of the few IPS of the country who had come to the post of commandant in a paramilitary force on deputation Arora served as commandant in 1997 till 2002 by Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on deputation.
He commanded a battalion of ITBP in Malti, Uttarakhand from the year 1997 to 2000, during that time he used to insist his soldiers eat 3 apples in a day, that is why he is known as "Teen Sheb Sahab" to date.
IPS officers in paramilitary forces usually come on deputation at the level of IG or above, they rarely come to the post of DIG Sanjay Arora also made a significant contribution to ITBP as a trainer and from 2000 to 2002 ITBP Academy Mussoorie Was serving as commandant training in the I.T.B.P
Indo -Tibetan Border Police ITBP
Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is a Central Armed Police Force work under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Other armed forces of the Government of India are - Assam Rifles (AR), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Armed Police Forces (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), National Security Guard (NSG), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
ITBP was established on 24 October 1962 during the Indo - China War and is a Border Guard Police Force with subject expertise in high altitude operations Presently ITBP 3488 km from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to the District of Arunachal Pradesh India China Responsible for border security
ITBP is also deployed for anti-Naxal operations and other internal security issues. ITBP at firest established under the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Act 1949, however, in the year 1992, Parliament makes the other law for ITBP Act, and in 1994 made the rules made related to it.
