The US announced the end of its 20-year-old war in Afghanistan before the deadline of August 31, 2021. The announcement was made after the last US military flight took off from Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul ahead of the August 31 deadline.

The United State announced the formal end of America's longest war just before the 20th anniversary of 9/11. The terrorist attacks of 9/11 forced the US to enter Afghanistan and overthrow the Taliban regime.

The Taliban regime was overthrown and replaced by US-backed Afghans. Then he ruled the country for 20 years. Several general elections were held in the last 20 years.

On August 15, 2021, the Taliban again overthrew the US-backed Afghan regime. After this President Ashraf Ghani fled the country and 3,00,000 armed forces soldiers gave up without a fight.
