In September 2021, every Hurun Research Institute has released the Hurun India Future Unicorn List 2021, according to which India is the third-largest unicorn/startup ecosystem in the world. America is on top in this, after which China is in second place. As per the list, there are currently 51 unicorn startups in India, while the United States has 396 and China has 270 unicorn startups.
Zilingo is the highest unicorn startup in the ranking in India with a funding of USD 310. Zilingo is headquartered in Singapore. Bengaluru is the top Indian city in terms of the number of unicorns headquartered in a city. Bengaluru has 31 unicorn startups, followed by Mumbai with 12 unicorn startups.
There will be more than 150 unicorns by 2025
Hurun India Managing Director Anas Rehman Junaid said that the rate at which the use of technology in India is increasing. By 2025, the number of unicorns here will increase to more than 150. The future market value of unicorns is currently around $36 billion.
We are now the third-largest country in the world in terms of unicorn startups. America is ahead of us with 396 unicorns and China 277 unicorns. There are 32 startup unicorns in the UK and 18 in Germany.
NCR and Bangalore biggest hub
Bengaluru leads in the creation of big startups, where 31 startups have found a place in Hurun's list. Delhi NCR ranks second with 18 startups and Mumbai third with 13 startups. However, 17 technical trainees from IIT Delhi laid the foundation for the startup.
In this case, IIT Bombay produced 15, Kanpur 13. 13 graduate pick trainees from IIM Ahmedabad also laid the foundation of big startups. The number of Internet users in the country will reach 90 million by 2025, which is currently 600 million.
