India joins Sea Dragon 2022 Multinational Exercise

The Sea Dragon 2022 exercise began at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam in India, Australia, Canada, Japan, the US, and South Korea. India, Japan, Australia, and the US are also part of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue - Quad) and also participate in the Malabar exercise.

Sea Dragon 22 Exercise

Sea Dragon is a multinational exercise led by the United States that aims to rehearse and discuss anti-submarine warfare methods in response to both traditional and non-traditional maritime security threats in the Indo-Pacific. This is a once-a-year test.

The exercise assumes significance in view of the strained relations of some countries with China and the growing efforts of the PLA-Navy in the Indian Ocean region. The Indian Navy has recently inducted two more Poseidon 81 maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare aircraft which will greatly strengthen its ability to monitor Chinese ships and submarines in the region.
