Two terrorists, including the commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba, were killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in the Drangbal area of   Pampore in the Pulwama district.

 An encounter has started between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, two terrorists, including a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, were killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in the Drangbal area of   Pampore in Pulwama district.

Umar Mushtaq Khande was allegedly trapped during the anti-militancy operation in Pampore that began on Friday. Kashmir IG Vijay Kumar said he was involved in the killing of two policemen in Srinagar's Baghat and other terror crimes.

Lashkar Commander Umar Mushtaq Khande was among the top 10 bases of J&K Police. The identity of the second deceased terrorist is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, there was another encounter between terrorists and security forces in Srinagar's Bemina area on Friday evening, a police spokesperson said. Two terrorists identified as Tanzeel and Shahid were killed in the encounter.

The slain terrorists were associates in the recent civilian killings of chemist Makhan Lal Bindru and teachers Supinder Kaul and Deepak Chand in Srinagar, informed IGP Kashmir.

Speaking about counter-insurgency operations in the two districts, DIG Rajouri-Poonch range Vivek Gupta said, "Such operations take time. We are behind terrorists for the last 2 months. On some occasions, we have established contact with them. But the dense forests act as a natural habitat for them."

"Army continuing their operation. There is no local support for terrorists in this area. However, there may be some people who are providing logistical support to terrorists. All of them are under surveillance,".
