What is SEACAT Exercise
SEACAT was first conducted in 2002. The exercise aims to promote cooperation among Southeast Asian countries by involving each training politics and responses to hazards, contingencies or illegal activities in the Padde Maritime region.
Indian Navy participates in multinational exercise SEACAT
- Recently the Indian Navy participated in the US Navy-led South East Asia Cooperation and Training SEACAT military exercise in Singapore to showcase its maritime maneuvers.
- The main objective of SEACAT 2021 was to enhance interoperability and common maritime security concerns and to preserve the rules-based international order. Around 400 personnel and 10 ships were involved in this exercise.
- Those editions of the exercise were conducted by the US Navy in a hybrid format and involved other partner nations in the Indo-Pacific region including India.
- The 20th edition of the exercise was conducted by the US Navy in a hybrid format and involved 20 other participating nations of the Indo-Pacific region including India. Other countries participating in the exercise include Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives Islands, Philippines, Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United Kingdom, and Vietnam.
