Surveillance vessel 'Vigraha' joined the Coast Guard, Defense Minister counted the merits

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh inducted the indigenously built surveillance ship "Vigraha" into the Indian Coast Guard class on 28 August 2021 in Chennai. The seventh completely indigenously built Patrol Vessel (OPV) of the Indian Coast Guard (ICC) Vigraha was commissioned.

The 98-meter ship will be located at Visakhapatnam (Vizag) in Andhra Pradesh and will be manned by a company of 11 officers and 110 sailors. The ship is indigenously designed and built by Larsen & Turbo Shipbuilding Ltd. Its water was launched in 2020.

The vessel is designed to carry a twin-engine war helicopter and four high-speed boats for boarding operations, search and rescue, law enforcement, and maritime patrol. With this ship joining the fleet, ICG has 157 ships and 66 aircraft. The ship is capable of displacing approximately 2200 tonnes and is powered by 9,100 diesel engines.
