Indian Navy Day celebrated on 4th December

Every year Indian Navy Day is celebrated on 4th December. This year the theme of Indian Navy Day 2021 is Golden Victory Year, which marks 50 years of India's victory in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War.

This day is celebrated in the year 1971 in memory of the spectacular success of the Indian Navy in Operation Trited at the Naval Headquarters of Pakistan at Karachi Harvar.

On 4 December 1971, in the war with Pakistan, the Indian Navy destroyed three Pakistani ships in a single night at the Karachi port under Operation Trident.

Establishment of the Indian Navy in 1612

Indian Navy was born or established in 1612. At that time the East India Company formed an army in the form of the East India Company's sea force to protect its ships. By the year 1686, the British trade had completely shifted to Mumbai.

After this, the name of this squad was changed from This Duniya Marine to Mumbai Marine.

Along with the Maratha Sindhi War, the Mumbai Marines also participated in the Burma War of 1824, which was later renamed the Royal Indian Navy. After the independence of India, the Navy was reconstituted in the year 1950 and its name was changed to the Indian Navy.
